TAMMIRA is a mobile platform that connects self-care enthusiasts with wellness & beauty experts for live virtual sessions, one-on-one consultations, and tailored product recommendations. The app also aims to build a new social media platform, backed by a supportive community that is bringing trust and transparency back into the wellness and beauty space.
The founder of TAMMIRA tasked our team with improving the app’s overall usability and creating emotional cues that would enhance user’s experience of safety and trust. As an early stage start up, she hoped that these enhancements would grow the number of early adopters, increase downloads, and improve retention rate.
After extensive user research and an in-depth audit of the existing app, our team ultimately prioritized a redesign of TAMMIRA’S onboarding as away to bolster the app’s identity and build trust with users.

Taking a closer look, our redesign addressed a wide variety of issues, but we focused on three key concerns:
Users were totally confused about the purpose of TAMMIRA and the functionality of its many features. The icons were unfamiliar and people weren’t sure what to do or where to click upon opening the app for the first time.
Educate users of the features, benefits, and TAMMIRA-specific terminology during the onboarding journey.
A pillar of TAMMIRA’s identity—the ability to receive personalized feedback from people with similar profiles—was not at all highlighted during the onboarding. A crucial part of this is filling out your GenCode, a profile page that covers all your personal beauty and wellness traits (hair color, skin type, etc.).
Incorporate the GenCode profile customization into the sign-up process, which allows TAMMIRA to provide users with personalized recommendations right off the bat.
The ability to book one-on-one sessions is limited by the difficulty to find suitable and trustworthy providers on the app. It was challenging to find relevant, well-rated personalizers amid the myriad of features and pages.
In addition to the instant recommendations provided upon completion of onboarding, we updated the personalizer’s profile to effectively display past work, reviews, GenCode details, and skills. The revamped profile allows users to efficiently vet providers and book sessions.
